Drop Crotch Pruning
Done right the first time
At Calvert Tree Care, we stand by the excellence of our work, there is a difference between "Topping" a tree and reducing the crown of a tree. Topping- is a unacceptable pruning practice to reduce the height of a tree which could provide short term control but causes serious future problems. Crown Reduction - is the selective removal of live branches to decrease the height and spread of the trees crown. By making cuts back to a crotch created by a lateral limb water and nutrients will be redirected into the lateral branch and it will assume the terminal growth and responsibility of the removed branch. The trees natural growth habit will be preserved and the height of the tree can now be maintained.
